Items of Value is an estate sale vendor serving clients in the Virginia and Maryland areas.
The company is run by Dr. Ford. Items of Value sucks. We know this sounds harsh, but we are enduring an estate sale with them now
and their performance and customer service have been horrendous. If you have to have an estate sale, and we're sorry for
your loss, if you do, stay as far away from Items of Value as you can.
We will provide details about their contract and how to negotiate each line of the
contract (but really, stay as far away from Items of Value as you can). If you have dealt with them in the past
(and likely are as angry and disappointed as we are), we will provide contacts for local Better Business Bureaus,
so the weight of our complaints will help prevent Dr. Ford from preying on other bereaved families. We will provide a
list of alternative, reputable estate sale vendors. We will provide details about how our estate sale process
has gone (it's pretty awful). It should prove enlightening and an entertaining read (boy, were we gullible)
We screwed up. We trusted Dr. Ford because of a reference from a close friend. Big mistake.
His contract is air-tight, so we decided to take a different route to remedy the bad situation with Items of Value.
We don't think Dr. Ford anticipated this response. We're going to lose some money, but if we can prevent others
from making the same mistake for their estate sale, it will be money well spent. Stay tuned as we flesh out the story.
